The event, hosted on the Department of Defense’s (DOD) All Partners Access Network (APAN), included 37 diverse partners -- both domestic and international – from the DOD, Department of Energy, academia and national labs.

The purpose of the workshop was to define the polymer composite and energetic materials community’s focus on material interfaces and its needs and to build collaborations and relationships to strengthen this group and its research areas.

Breakout topics focusing on interfacial science were broken into three groups: characterization and chemistry or measured values to define surface; interface or material properties; property relationships and mechanical properties; and modeling and simulation.

Plans call for the workshop to be converted into a large in-person meeting in April 2021, with an agenda based on the 2020 workshop breakout discussion topics.
