Purdue Engineering extends streak of most-ever top 10 undergraduate rankings, enhancing reputation for excellence in highly competitive landscape
4 programs in top 4, 7 programs in top 10, highest-ever ranking for materials engineering
Purdue’s College of Engineering has scored its highest number of undergraduate rankings in the top 10 for the third consecutive year in the annual U.S. News & World Report survey of Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
USNWR national rankings released Sept. 24, 2024, show:
- Four Purdue Engineering programs in the top 4 for their disciplines: industrial engineering (IE), aeronautical and astronautical engineering (AAE), civil engineering (CE), and agricultural and biological engineering (ABE)
- Seven College of Engineering programs in the top 10: IE, No. 2; AAE, No. 3; CE, No. 3; ABE, No. 4; Mechanical Engineering (ME), No. 7; Computer Engineering (CompE), No. 10; and MSE, No. 10
- MSE in its highest-ever ranking
“The new U.S. News undergraduate rankings amplify our reputation as a preeminent incubator of well-prepared, diverse engineering talent in a highly competitive environment,” said Arvind Raman, Purdue’s John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering. “Particularly as we celebrate our college’s 150th year, we are proud of this recognition, which reflects our continuing progress in providing excellence at scale to equip future engineers to impactfully solve society’s most critical problems.”
The latest rankings build on other significant Purdue Engineering accomplishments. For example, earlier this year, the college received outstanding USNWR rankings for all graduate/research programs and for online master’s programs. The college also continues to contribute about 70% of U.S. utility patents received by Purdue, which ranks fourth among the nation’s universities for the number of these patents awarded annually.
U.S. News & World Report Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs rankings are based solely on the judgments of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions who participated in a peer assessment survey. Purdue ranks No. 8 overall for its undergraduate engineering programs.
