Biography

Kevin Brooks is a Senior Staff member who graduated from Purdue in 1982 and
has been with the Engineering Computer Network since 1984. He has always enjoyed
carrying around a tool box, and over the years the contents have changed from punch
down tools and soldering irons to network analyzers, disk drives, and laptops.

Kevin's responsibilities continue to evolve along with technology and the needs of
the organization. He was in charge of hardware maintenance of Sun Microsystems
products and infrastructure systems during the peak years of Unix desktop deployments.
This was followed by a three year research project where he led a small team in the
testing of high availability disk storage systems. As Windows became the prominent
desktop system, Kevin has adapted and occasionally serves as a site specialist
providing direct local support to the Schools of Engineering.

On the weekends, one can often find Kevin and his wife, Ruth, at a horse barn, with Ruth riding
her horse and Kevin safely sitting in a lawn chair reading a newspaper. They both enjoy
motorcycle travel, boating and fishing, and their granddaughter. Always a child at heart,
Kevin likes to share his outdoor toys and adventures with other children while serving as a
volunteer for the Tippecanoe County CASA program.
