Tyler Tallman

Assistant Professor of Aeronautics & Astronautics

Tyler N. Tallman earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire in 2010, a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2010, a M.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2012, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2015.

Dr. Tallman’s research endeavors to develop a new generation of smart aircraft structures capable of continuous damage identification. This is a comprehensive approach to structural health monitoring including the development of self-sensing nanocomposite materials, characterization of nanocomposite-based structural composites, non-invasive imaging, and structural-scale implementation. An important diversification of these interests is non-invasive, conductivity-based medical imaging.
