1. Multi-disciplinary Awards and Recognitions

Benjamin Franklin Medal
The Franklin Institute awards Benjamin Franklin Medals annually across several disciplines of science and engineering: chemistry, civil and mechanical engineering, computer and cognitive science, earth and environmental science, electrical engineering, life science, and physics. The subject of the candidate's research must be an invention, discovery, technological development, or a body of work reflecting extraordinary insight, skill, or creativity. Recipients of the Benjamin Franklin Medals receive an honorarium of $10,000 per award.

Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists in Physical Sciences & Engineering
*Limited Submission*
The Blavatnik National Awards celebrate the past accomplishments and future potential of young faculty members working in the three disciplinary categories of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemistry. Every year, one Blavatnik National Awards Laureate in each disciplinary category will receive $250,000 in unrestricted funds, and additional nominees will be recognized as Finalists. The nominee must: Have been born in or after 1980; hold a doctoral degree; currently hold a faculty position at an invited institution in the United States; currently conduct research as a principal investigator in one of the disciplinary categories in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, or Chemistry.

Mahathir Science Award
Presented by the Mahathir Science Award Foundation, this award is positioned as Malaysia's most prestigious Science Award for tropical sciences, and bestowed on any scientist, institution or organization worldwide in recognition of contributions and innovations towards solving problems in the tropics through science and technology. One award is given out each year in one of the four categories: Tropical Agriculture, Tropical Architecture and Engineering, Tropical Medicine, as well as Tropical Natural Resources. Award recipients receive $100,000 USD, a gold medal and a certificate, as well as the opportunity to work with the Mahathir Science Award Foundation to promote tropical sciences.

Millennium Technology Prize
The Millennium Technology Prize is awarded by Technology Academy Finland for groundbreaking technological innovations that benefit millions of people around the world. It can be awarded to an individual or to a team of any nationality. All individuals who deserve the Millennium Technology Prize for the proposed innovation must be named in the nomination. The Prize is intended for innovators in the active stage of their careers. Award recipients receive EUR 1,000,000 and the Millennium Technology Prize trophy.

National Academy of Sciences James Prize in Science and Technology Integration
Honors outstanding contributions made by researchers who are able to adopt or adapt information or techniques from outside of their fields, and thus integrate knowledge from two or more disciplines (e.g., engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, biomedicine, geosciences, astronomy, or computational sciences) to solve a major contemporary challenge not addressable from a single disciplinary perspective. Presented with a $50,000 prize. NAS membership is not required to nominate or to be nominated.

National Academy of Sciences Public Welfare Medal
The NAS Public Welfare Medal is the Academy's most prestigious award and is presented annually to honor extraordinary use of science for the public good. Over the past 100 years the NAS Public Welfare Medal has continued to recognize those individuals who have worked tirelessly to promote science for the benefit of humanity.

National Inventors Hall of Fame
The National Inventors Hall of Fame honors visionaries whose patented inventions have changed our world. Nominees must hold a U.S. patent for an invention that is groundbreaking or a significant advancement in their field. The invention has been put into widespread use and has improved societal well-being, provided economic benefits to the country and has advanced scientific understanding.

National Science Board Public Service Award
The National Science Board (NSB) Public Service Award honors individuals and groups that have made substantial contributions to increasing public understanding of science and engineering in the United States. These contributions may be in a wide variety of areas that have the potential of contributing to public understanding of and appreciation for science and engineering, including: media, education, training programs, and entertainment.

National Science Board Vannevar Bush Award
The Vannevar Bush Award honors truly exceptional lifelong leaders in science and technology who have made substantial contributions to the welfare of the Nation through public service activities in science, technology, and public policy. The award was established in 1980 in the memory of Vannevar Bush, who served as a science advisor to President Franklin Roosevelt during World War II, helped to establish federal funding for science and engineering as a national priority during peacetime, and was behind the creation of the National Science Foundation.

National Science Foundation Alan T. Waterman Award
The annual award recognizes an outstanding young researcher in any field of science or engineering supported by the National Science Foundation. In addition to a medal, the awardee receives a grant of $1,000,000 over a five-year period for scientific research or advanced study in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, social, or other sciences at the institution of the recipient's choice. A candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. He or she must be 40 years of age or younger, OR not more than 10 years beyond receipt of the Ph.D. degree, by December 31st of the year in which they are nominated.

Prince Philip Medal
The medal is awarded by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering to an engineer who has made an exceptional contribution to engineering as a whole through practice, management or education.

Sloan Research Fellowships
Sloan Research Fellowships seek to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise. These two-year, $75,000 fellowships are awarded yearly to 126 researchers in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in chemistry, computer science, Earth system science, economics, mathematics, molecular biology, neuroscience, physics, or a related field. Candidates must be members of the faculty of a college, university, or other degree-granting institution in the U.S. or Canada. Candidates must be tenure-track, though untenured, as of September 2021.

The Norman Medal recognizes a paper that makes a contribution to either practical or research aspects of engineering disciplines. The practical value of the contribution and its impact on engineering practice are important considerations.

American Society for Engineering Management

National Outstanding Teaching Award
The National Outstanding Teaching Award provides national recognition to an engineering or engineering technology educator for excellence in outstanding classroom performance, contributions to the scholarship of teaching, and participation in ASEE Section meetings and local activities. The awardee receives an engraved commemorative medallion, certificate, and complimentary registration for the ASEE Annual Conference at which the award is presented.

Benjamin Garver Lamme Award
The Benjamin Garver Lamme Award is bestowed upon a distinguished engineering educator for contributions to the art of teaching, contributions to research and technical literature and achievements that contribute to the advancement of the profession of engineering college administration. The award consists of a gold medal and a certificate, funded by the Lamme trust fund. .

ASEE Lifetime Achievement Award in Engineering Education
The ASEE Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have retired or who are near the ends of their careers for sustained contributions to education in the fields of engineering and/or engineering technology. The recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium, travel assistance up to $1,000 for travel to the ASEE Annual Conference to receive the award, and a commemorative plaque.

Chester F. Carlson Award
The Chester F. Carlson Award is presented annually to an individual innovator in engineering education who, by motivation and ability to extend beyond the accepted tradition, has made a significant contribution to the profession. The award, sponsored by the Xerox Corporation, consists of a $1,000 honorarium and a plaque.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers

F. Paul Anderson Award
This award is the Society's highest award. It honors members for notable achievement, outstanding work or service in any field of the Society. Accomplishments should include exceptional leadership in the HVAC&R industry, ASHRAE, and society. Broad-based activities of outstanding value in consulting, contracting, engineering, design, and related activity within ASHRAE are desired.

Association for Computing Machinery

A.M. Turing Award
The A. M. Turing Award is ACM's oldest and most prestigious award. It is presented annually to an individual who has made lasting contributions of a technical nature to the computing community. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $1,000,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet.

Distinguished Service Award
The ACM Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding service contributions to the computing community as a whole. Individuals, or in special cases a small group, are selected on the basis of the value and degree of their service overall, including activities on behalf of the Association, other computer organizations, and/or other entities. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and includes travel expenses to the banquet.
