Purdue’s College of Engineering returns to the top 5 ranking in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Engineering Schools survey.

In rankings of nearly 200 engineering colleges released today (April 8), Purdue Engineering also received its highest overall score this century — the combined result of all U.S. News measures used to determine institutional rankings. This overall score is distinct from the rankings of individual disciplines, where Purdue surpassed its own records with 5 disciplinary rankings in the top 5 and 10 disciplines in the top 10.*

The top 5 disciplines are Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE), No. 1; Industrial Engineering (IE), No. 3; Aeronautical and Astronautical (AAE), No. 5; Biomedical Engineering (BME), No. 5**; and Civil Engineering (CCE), No. 5.

Joining those disciplines in the top 10 are Mechanical Engineering (ME), No. 7; Computer Engineering (CompE), No. 9; Electrical Engineering (EE); No. 9; Environmental and Ecological Engineering (EEE), No. 10; and Nuclear Engineering (NE), No. 10.

In key accomplishments:

  • ABE maintained its No. 1 ranking for the fifth straight year.
  • BME received its highest ranking in nearly a decade.
  • IE reached its best standing in 21 years.
  • CCE ranked No. 5 for the second consecutive year.
  • ME earned its highest ranking in 17 years.

“We are thrilled to see this exceptional recognition of our graduate education and research,” said Arvind Raman, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering. “The new U.S. News rankings are a credit to our faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners, who make possible our world-changing research and innovation in critical areas from semiconductors to AI to manufacturing.”

He added, “The outstanding rankings of our graduate programs highlight persistent progress in realizing our Vision 2030: to become the nation’s most consequential engineering college, by producing best-prepared engineering talent, leading impactful research, and significantly advancing our state and nation.”
