CoE student athletes among B1G honorees

B1G Honorees
Ten intercollegiate student athletes in the College of Engineering were among 1,016 from all 14 Big Ten institutions to receive the 2016-17 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award for excellent academic performance. Qualifying students earned at least a 3.7 GPA during the 2016-17 academic year. A total of 54 Purdue athletes received the award.

Two engineering students also were singled out for having flawless 4.0 GPAs. They are Susan Hubbard, a sophomore in biological engineering who competes in Women's Track and Field; and Ted Curtiss, a senior in materials engineering with the Men's Swimming and Diving team. 

The other eight award recipients with a 3.7 GPA or better are:

  • Ashley Evans, mechanical engineering, Women’s Volleyball
  • Alex Ford, biomedical engineering, Women’s Swimming and Diving
  • Grant Lewis, industrial engineering, Men’s Swimming and Diving
  • Meagan Lim, materials engineering, Women’s Swimming and Diving
  • James Nguyen, electrical engineering, Men’s Swimming and Diving
  • Bridget Perry, biomedical engineering, Women’s Basketball
  • Jake Thomas, biomedical engineering, Men’s Swimming and Diving.
