Purdue CARES Hub to welcome comedian and therapist, first in lineup of free events this fall

The Purdue CARES Hub has created a lineup of free events this fall to help students boost their emotional and mental health.

As part of an array of fall programming, Purdue CARES Hub will welcome Will Miller, a comedian and therapist, to chat with students at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16 in WALC 103. The event will include free pizza and a light-hearted conversation about self-care and strategies for connection.

The Purdue CARES Hub is a result of more than a year of research and planning by the Purdue Engineering Student Council to meet their mission of serving students. The CARES Hub will strive to help students optimize mental health and create pathways for academic and social success. It will become an integral part of Steps to Leaps for engineering students. Steps to Leaps was created by students for students and is a framework focused on enhancing and improving holistic well-being.

The CARES Hub will provide free low-barrier, high-access support for engineering students. The director will implement community-level interventions, well-being programming and education to improve the overall health of the engineering student body. The staff also will train and supervise a number of peer counselors who will facilitate walk-in and scheduled appointments.

In anticipation of a January 2024 grand opening, Purdue CARES Hub has created a lineup of free events this fall to help students boost their emotional and mental health. The CARES Hub is located on the first floor of the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering (ARMS 1261).
