From the Dean: January 2018

Dear Purdue Engineering Community,

Happy New Year! I hope you have had an enjoyable holiday season with family and friends.

In the last several weeks of 2017, Purdue Engineering had many more reasons to celebrate:

Bill Dudley (BSCE ’74), a Civil Engineering alumnus and former CEO of Bechtel Group, delivered the Winter Commencement Speech on December 17, as more than 500 Boilermaker Engineers received their bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degrees, and 79 received their degrees online.

On the same day, Scott Tingle (MSME ’88), a Mechanical Engineering alumnus and the latest astronaut from Purdue Engineering, launched towards the International Space Station.

Abby Lemert, a Multidisciplinary Engineering major in the Honors College and an engineering ambassador, won a Marshall Scholarship to study in U.K., the first at Purdue in 25 years.

Elijah Sindelar, a sophomore in Electrical and Computer Engineering and the quarterback of Purdue Football, threw the 38-yard touchdown pass in the final two minutes that lead to Purdue's first bowl win in 15 years.

What a way to cap an exciting semester and to kick off the new year!
