Dean's Message: December 2017

Dear Purdue Engineering Community,

Tomorrow evening is an important one. It is the annual Staff Awards Banquet in our College. We are grateful for the contributions by outstanding staff across various offices in the College. Personally, I am privileged to have my first chance to formally recognize some of them in Ross-Ade Stadium.

We are also deeply appreciative of those colleagues in the College administration who are rotating off or retiring after years of dedicated service. Next week we are hosting a luncheon with the current Engineering Leadership Team in their honor.

I am excited to update everyone that the Leah H. Jamieson Directorship of Women in Engineering Program has been created, thanks to donors who contributed to the gift fund. Beth Holloway is the inaugural holder of the Directorship. This recognizes one of the many profound impacts from Dean Jamieson’s leadership. We will be honored to formally announce this at an event in the spring.

Tomorrow morning we will have the second Engineering College Town Hall at 9am in Forney Hall B124. We will discuss a range of topics with any interested students, faculty or staff, including "Data Mind for Engineers" and Stackable Ones modular courses, the proposed tax bills and potential impact to graduate students, staff job family updates, "Engineering Faculty Conversation" that is launching on January 26, the "Celebrate Our Associate Professors" series launching on January 18, the new structure of College administration, and any other topics you would like to discuss in this public, open forum.

Have a wonderful conclusion of the Fall semester and the Holiday Season of 2017.
