Mr. Scott Fancher earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Washington University. Mr. Fancher also earned a master’s of business administration from Washington University’s Executive MBA program.

Mr. Fancher was named vice president and general manager of Airplane Development, a new Commercial Airplanes organization, in November 2012. In this new position, he has responsibility for all commercial airplane development programs. Mr. Fancher leads the design, development, test and certification of the next generation of airplane models, including the 737 MAX, 767 Tanker, 777X, 787-9 and 787-10X. Prior to that, Mr. Fancher was the vice president and general manager of the 777 and 777X programs. In this position Mr. Fancher had overall responsibility for the 777 program and defining the next-generation 777. From December 2008 to February 2012, Mr. Fancher was the vice president and general manager of the 787 Dreamliner program. He led the successful completion of the Dreamliner’s development and entry into service. Before leading the 787 program, Mr. Fancher was vice president and general manager of Boeing Missile Defense System. Missile Defense System provides integrated missile defense solutions for all phases of ballistic missile threats and develops advanced directed energy technologies and systems.

Mr. Fancher has held many executive leadership positions in engineering, research and development and program management during more than 35 years with Boeing. His experience includes program management, technology development, design, product development, manufacturing and flight test of aircraft and spacecraft systems. Mr. Fancher has worked in many product domains within Boeing including commercial aircraft, tactical aircraft, airborne reconnaissance, missile defense, spacecraft, launch vehicles, advanced electro-optics, and communication systems development. Mr. Fancher also has served in a Congressional Fellowship as a legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator John Glenn.
