The IEEE Board of Directors has elevated Jie Shan, Reilly Professor of Civil Engineering, to the grade of IEEE Fellow, effective January 1, 2026. Professor Shan received this honor for his contributions to advanced LiDAR analytics and technologies.

The IEEE Fellow distinction is reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in engineering, science, and technology have significantly advanced their respective fields. Fewer than 0.1% of IEEE’s voting membership receive this honor annually, making it one of the organization’s most prestigious recognitions.
