Chelsea S. Davis

Assistant Professor of Materials Engineering

Dr. Davis received her undergraduate degree in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University, and both her M.S. (2007) and Ph.D. (2012) in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Dr. Davis was a Michelin Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles (ESPCI) in Paris and then completed a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Dr. Davis’s research interests are in the contact mechanics of soft matter, interfacial molecular probes, and their applications in polymer nanocomposites for structural health monitoring and advanced damage sensing.
