Conversations surrounding the crisis in nursing amid the COVID-19 pandemic situate the nurse as a social actor who needs to build and maintain resiliency. I temper this expectation as unjust and unrealistic given the avoidable nurse specific traumas they are continuously exposed to. A broader context that begins to entertain the concept of social justice for nurses as opposed to social justice by nurses will be described. The nurse, as bound physically and psychologically by space and time, as well as organizational culpability will be discussed.
