Did you know that people who graduate with an engineering or technical degree are eligible to sit for the Patent Bar exam that is administered by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)?

After passing the exam, the person becomes a patent agent and is qualified to represent and advise inventors on their patent applications before the USPTO. Barnes & Thornburg LLP, a full-service law firm with a strong intellectual property department, is hosting an event for Purdue graduate students pursuing a degree in biology, pharmacy, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, and similar fields. Becoming a patent agent is a great alternative career path for scientists who don’t necessarily desire to be laboratory-focused but wants to utilize their scientific knowledge on a daily basis. If you are interested in learning more about this career path, please attend B&T’s event where students can learn how to become a patent agent and what the job entails.

Lunch will be provided to those who attend!
