Barry "Joe" Bentley recently retired from Pacific Gas & Electric as the Senior Vice President of Electric Engineering. In this role, he served as the leader for electric engineering, electric process safety, electric asset management, and transmission, substation and distribution design engineering. His role was accountable for electric integrated grid planning, financial budgeting, and engineering all electric projects.
Prior to joining PG&E, Bentley served as the Senior Vice President, U.S. Utility Operations for AES Corporation. During his 30-year career with AES and its subsidiaries, he held leadership roles of increasing responsibility and spans of control including asset management, customer operations, power delivery, fuel and energy supply, and energy and telecom private equity.
Bentley graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1988 and has completed executive education courses at Georgetown University, the University of Virginia and the University of Michigan.
