ECE 639 - Error Control Coding

The course provides an introduction to classic algebraic coding theory. This includes linear block codes and finite fields in order to cover cyclic codes, which include Reed-Solomon and BCH codes. Next, the classic convolutional codes are covered. The course then introduces the turbo codes, low density parity check (LDPC) codes, and the polar codes. Other, more advanced, courses have historically covered decoding on graphs, etc., at Purdue University.
