ECE 544 - Digital Communications
The course provides an introduction to digital (including spread-spectrum) communication systems. Topics include analog message digitization, signal space representation of digital signals, binary and M-ary signaling methods, detection of binary and M-ary signals, and comparisons of digital communication systems in terms of signal energy and signal bandwidth requirements. Applications of spread spectrum to multiple-access systems and to secure communication systems are considered. Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is introduced.
