Juan Mesa

BME PhD Student

What do you like most about the program?

Research quality is undoubtedly one of the best things at BME. Also, the program is pretty diverse, which makes it a great place to stay and get to know new people and cultures.

Juan was born and raised in Colombia. He is proud to be a part of the Minority Engineering Program, where he taught Electronics and Robotics to underrepresented high school students.

What accomplishment are you most proud of at your time at Purdue so far?

For a person who has been a complete introvert his entire life, I feel that I have gathered a lot of confidence and networking after I joined Purdue University. I felt great after I attended the career fair and it came out to be very productive for me.

Abhijeeth celebrates his Indian culture which includes his favorite festival: Diwali, the festival of light and happiness. Roaming around the iconic Neil Armstrong statue is his favorite thing to do on campus.

What is your favorite memory at Purdue so far?

I really enjoyed the Graduate Women in engineering Network Symposium. It was a great way to meet other women in engineering at Purdue.

Claudia and her roommates got six chickens to help get through the "third year slump". She also enjoys rock climbing, crocheting, biking, and pottery.

Lexi Petrucciani

What do you like most about the program that you would like to share with others?

I like the strong emphasis on mentorship. My advisor is an excellent mentor, and I get great advice from many peer mentors in my lab and in the department.

Lexi enjoys biking, knitting, and rock climbing. She won second place in the beginner category at Purdue's bouldering competition last year.

Ramya Deekshitha Karthikeyan

What are some fun facts or hobbies you would like to share?

I was trained to be a professional speed skater back in India. I started skating in 6th grade and continued until I came to Purdue for my master's degree which was about 11 years. I've won several state accolades and represented my state in national-level competitions. The best part about my sport is how disciplined of a person it turned me into.
