BME Faculty by Research Area
For all that has been done, the future holds even greater promise. Working at the interface between biology and engineering, the faculty, staff, and students at the Weldon School are leading the way and pursuing creative solutions to the most difficult problems in medicine. This research integrates molecular and cellular principles with engineering science so that optimum solutions can be found, tested, and implemented — often through innovative partnerships with industry. These interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations are critical to advancing health care in this new century.
Research at the Weldon School is focused in five Areas of Excellence:
- Engineered Biomaterials and Tissue Systems
- Biophotonics and Medical Imaging
- Systems Science and Engineering
- Orthopaedic Biomechanics
The research performed at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering is not only transformational for healthcare worldwide, but also for the school itself. Our faculty provide world-class expertise and expand the depth and breadth of research as well as education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
