David Inouye

Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Dr. Inouye received bachelor’s degrees in natural sciences from Covenant College, Georgia, and in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed a postdoc in machine learning at Carnegie Mellon University.

His research interests focus on the fundamentals of machine learning, probabilistic models, invertible deep learning, and explainable artificial intelligence with an emphasis on generative models and density estimation. He currently is focused on creating the foundations for destructive deep learning. Dr. Inouye is the recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.
