Somali Chaterji

Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering

Dr. Chaterji earned her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Purdue and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, where her work was supported by an American Heart Association award. She is part of the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network (WHIN) leadership team working to bring IoT to advance agriculture. She is the recipient of Purdue’s 2016 Seed-for-Success Award for winning a research grant totaling more than $1M.

Her research interests include developing algorithms and statistical models for biological engineering, precision medicine and digital agriculture. Dr. Chaterji is also a lab-to-bedside commercialization enthusiast and has served as a scientific advisor to the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas at Austin since 2014.
