Xiaoping Bao

Xiaoping Bao

Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

Dr. Bao earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Tsinghua University, China, and his Ph.D. in chemical and biological engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California Berkeley and is the recipient of the American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018), Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine Center Fellowship (2015) from UW-Madison.

His research interests include human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), including human embryonic cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which represent a potentially inexhaustible supply of human cells for regenerative medicine. Specifically, he is interested in using innovative technologies to engineer stem cells as models of human development and disease, as well as to develop cellular and molecular therapies as next-generation medicine for degenerative diseases.
