Zachary Hass

Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering and Nursing

Dr. Hass received his bachelor’s degree in statistics and economics in 2011 from Case Western University, where he also played for the football team. At Purdue, he earned his master’s degree (2013) in applied statistics and his Ph.D. (2017) in statistics.

Prior to his current position, he worked as a post-doctoral research associate for the Purdue School of Nursing.

Dr. Hass’s research interests lie at the intersection of applied statistics, nursing, and industrial engineering. A statistician by education, his scholarly efforts focus primarily on health services research. His recent work has been on long term care transition program from nursing homes to community and the value based reimbursement model for nursing homes used in the state of Minnesota. Methodologically he has been exploring the use of quasi-experimental design and simulation models to answer practically relevant questions using available observational data.
