Vitaliy L. Rayz

Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Rayz received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005, and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1997.

Prior to joining Purdue University, Dr. Rayz served as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2015-2017), and as an Adjunct Assistant Research Professor in Neurosurgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. From 2008-2014 he was an Assistant Research Scientist in the Radiology Department at the University of California, San Francisco, and from 2005-2008 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Radiology Services at the VAMC in San Francisco.

Dr. Rayz’s research interests are in the field of biomechanical analysis of cardiovascular disease initiation, progression, and treatment. In particular, his work involves modeling patient-specific hemodynamics in order to provide guidance to clinicians involved in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
