Jong Hyun Choi
Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Jong Hyun Choi received his bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from Yonsei University in South Korea, and earned his doctoral degree, also in mechanical engineering, from the University of California- Berkeley. After completing his PhD work, he took a postdoctoral position in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. In the fall of 2007, he moved to MIT with his group, where he stayed until joining Purdue. His main research interests are in nanomaterial interactions with lasers and biomolecules and the use of observed phenomena for various applications including biomolecular diagnostics and therapeutics. He is also developing novel nanoscale energy conversion systems using functionalized nanoparticles.
