Monica E. Cardella

Assistant Professor of Engineering Education

Dr. Monica Cardella has a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Washington, an M.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Washington, and a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

Prior to her appointment at Purdue, Dr. Cardella was a CASEE (Center for the Advancement of Scholarship in Engineering Education) postdoctoral engineering education researcher at Stanford University. Her research interests include engineering design thinking, mathematical thinking, visual thinking, P-12 engineering education, and user-centered design.

Dr. Cardella is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education, the American Educational Research Association, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and Pi Alpha Mu, the industrial engineering honor society.
