Dr. Vijay S. Pai

Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Dr. Vijay S. Pai joins the Purdue University faculty in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an assistant professor. Pai's research interests include computer architecture, high-performance networking software, and performance simulation and modeling. Pai's research group has recently developed Spinach, a toolset for performance evaluation of programmable network interfaces. Pai had previously developed and maintained RSIM, a publicly-available multiprocessor simulator with over 1000 external licenses. He received a BSEE degree in 1994, an MS degree in 1997, and a PhD in 2000, all from Rice University. He received the NSF CAREER award in 2003. Prior to joining Purdue, he had served as a senior developer at iMimic Networking, Inc., and as an assistant professor at Rice University. While at Rice, he developed a course entitled "Fundamentals of Computer Engineering" to introduce freshman and sophomore CS and ECE majors to topics such as transistors, digital logic, assembly language and C programming, I/O, interrupts, microarchitectures, and operating systems.
