Dr. Eric A. Nauman

Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Eric A. Nauman has accepted an offer to join our faculty through the Tissue/Cellular Engineering Cluster. He will be Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering with courtesy appointments in Biomedical Engineering (approved) and Basic Medical Sciences (pending formal approval by their faculty). His research areas (bone reconstruction through tissue engineering, bone mechanics and orthopaedics, transport phenomena in tissues) comprise an excellent bridge between the three departments, and build on our strengths in these areas. He should also help grow our already strong relationships with the biomed companies in northwest Indiana. Eric received the BSME from Delaware, with minors in Math and Japanese. He was named the U. Delaware Alumni Association A. J. Taylor Awardee as the Outstanding Male Graduate of 1995. After receiving the PhD from UC Berkeley in 2000, he joined Tulane University as a faculty member in Biomedical Engineering. He won Teacher of the Year awards as a graduate instructor at Berkeley and in BME at Tulane. Eric has research funding from NIH, 2 provisional patents, 9 disclosures, 18 journal papers and more than 30 other research publications.
