Dr. Monika Ivantysynova
Professor of Agricultural & Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Monika Ivantysynova has accepted our offer to join Purdue as Professor with joint appointments in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Her research focuses on development of energy-efficient fluid-power actuator and drive technology, and design and optimization methods for displacement machines. Her research will be in ABE and at Herrick Laboratories. Her degrees are from Technical University of Bratislava, and after her PhD in 1983, she spent about seven years in industry and then returned in 1991 to academia. She has held faculty positions at T.U. Duisburg and T.U. Hamburg-Harburg in Germany, and developed 12 different courses in the field of fluid power and mechatronic systems design and analysis. She also developed three WebCT courses, initiated the first Bachelor/Master program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Duisburg, and led development of an international exchange programs involving Duisburg and University of Washington, University of Plymouth/UK, University of Buros/Sweden, and Politecnico di Milano/Italy. Her book "Hydrostatic pumps and motors: design and computational methods" is published in German and English. Monika is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Fluid Power, and an initiator, scientific board member, and German convenor of the first virtual network of fluid power research and education centers world wide, the Fluid Power Net International (FPNI). Professor Ivantysynova is a member of the scientific board of FPNI and the national convenor for Germany.
