New engineering center to develop scientific and engineering principles of resilient systems

Led by ECE Prof. Surabh Bagchi, A new Purdue University College of Engineering center has been unveiled to seek the foundational design principles that underlie resilient systems. The Center for Resilient Infrastructures, Systems and Processes (CRISP) was officially started in October 2017 and will run its seed grant competition for research proposals this summer.

Prof. Alexandra Boltasseva named finalist for 2018 Blavatnik National Awards

Alexandra Boltasseva, professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been chosen as a finalist for the 2018 Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists. Boltasseva and 30 other finalists will compete for the world’s largest unrestricted prizes for early career scientists — $250,000 each for three Blavatnik National Laureates in the categories of Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Physical Sciences & Engineering.

ECE Prof. Leah Jamieson receives honorary doctorate from NJIT

Dr. Leah Jamieson, the Ransburg Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and John A. Edwardson Dean Emerita of Engineering, received an honorary Doctor of Science, honoris causa, from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) at a commencement ceremony held May 15th in Newark, NJ.

ECE Prof. Ye chosen for Purdue's 2018 Arden L. Bement Jr. Award

Peide "Peter" Ye, the Richard J. and Mary Jo Schwartz Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, has been chosen as the 2018 Arden L. Bement Jr. Award recipient. One of Purdue University's top three research honors, the Bement Award is given for significant accomplishments in pure and applied science and engineering. Ye is being honored for his field-defining work in synthesizing and applying novel electronic materials to achieve record device performance.

ECE students Baibhab Chatterjee, Debayan Das, and Prof. Shreyas Sen received a Best Poster Award (3rd) at the 2018 IEEE International Symposium on Hardware Oriented Security and Trust (HOST), held April 30-May 4, 2018 in Mclean, Virginia.
