Professor Charles Bouman elected Fellow of National Academy of Inventors

Professor Bouman’s research is on statistical signal and image processing in applications ranging from medical to scientific and consumer imaging. His research resulted in the first commercial model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) system for medical computed tomography (CT) and demonstrated its potential for dramatic X-ray dosage reduction.

Professor Y. Charlie Hu named 2016 IEEE Fellow

Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for elevation to IEEE Fellow. Less than 0.1% of voting members are selected annually for this member grade elevation. Professor Hu was cited for contributions to power modeling and energy management of mobile devices.

Professor Dan Jiao named 2016 IEEE Fellow

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. Professor Jiao is being recognized for contributions to computational electromagnetics.

HKN presents fall semester Awards

The Outstanding Service Award was presented to I-Fan Lin. The Outstanding Active Award was presented to Sambit Mishra. Professor Stanley Chan received the Outstanding Teacher Award, and Professor Mark Bell received the Outstanding Professor Award.

ECE Professors contribute to latest Engineering Preeminent Teams

Professors Stanley Chan, Ali Shakouri, and Andrew Weiner are members of Team #2: Label-free Spectroscopic Imaging: Emerging Platform for Biology and Medicine. Professor Thomas Talavage is the lead for Team #8: Engineering Healthier Brains: Assessment, Treatment, and Prevention of Neurophysiologic Injury and Disease, which is the final winner in the 2014 competition. Professor Zhongming Liu is also a member of the team.

Professor Edward Delp receives Google Faculty Research Award

Google Research Awards are one-year awards structured as unrestricted gifts to universities to support the work of world-class permanent faculty members at top universities around the world. Professor Delp's project is entitled: "Error Resilient Video Coding for Real-Time Communication".
