Major: Electrical Engineering

Why did you want to study abroad?

There will never be another time in my life where it is so easy to spend nearly half a year exploring different cultures. Study abroad is a perfect way to create life changing experiences while staying on track with my studies.

Where did you study abroad? Why did you choose this location/program?

I studied abroad at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. Spain had the best options for my academics and it is a member of the European Union, making it wildly easy to travel to any of the other 28 European Union countries. Outside of travelling, Madrid itself is a vibrant city that caters to young adults.

Fun experience:

The Mardis Gras festival on the southern tip of Spain was amazing, everybody dressed up in crazy costumes and flooded the streets all day and night. There were bands on every street corner, the beach was beautiful, and the food was incredible.

What you’ve learned—either about yourself or the culture you’re living in.

I enjoy myself most when I force myself out of a routine and into possibly uncomfortable situations (Studying abroad in Spain with no Spanish speaking abilities, for example). Almost all of my best experiences abroad have only happened because I chose to go somewhere or do something that made me a bit nervous.

Would you suggest study abroad for other ECE students? Why?

Absolutely, it's unbelievable how quickly your view of the world and yourself will change. The lessons you learn and friends you make are invaluable, I have no regrets.
