Anand Raghunathan, the Silicon Valley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named the 2024 Technical Excellence Award winner by Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) for his pioneering contributions to the design of artificial intelligence hardware and approximate computing.

Purdue receives grant funding in all three areas of NSF semiconductor research program

“The nation’s semiconductor challenge is a Purdue priority,” said Mark Lundstrom, chief semiconductor officer and head of the university’s Semiconductor Task Force. “This funding from NSF and its corporate partners confirms that the work we are doing is critical to the advancement of the U.S. chip industry and all the current and future technological necessities that rely on it.”

Researchers Create 2D Materials with Pentagons as Building Blocks

Yong Chen, professor of electrical and computer engineering and physics, led this research, which introduces a new type of 2D material based on pentagonal patterns, expanding the family of known 2D materials. Most known 2D materials, like graphene, are based on hexagonal structures, so pentagonal materials provide new structural possibilities.
