The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering today (10/10) celebrated the grand reopening of the 1st floor of the Max W & Maileen Brown Family Hall. The renovated space includes cutting-edge undergraduate instructional labs, collaborative graduate research spaces, inviting student lounge, TA and student collaboration space, renovated restrooms, and improved accessibility and energy efficiency.

Mark Lundstrom, Purdue University’s chief semiconductor officer, on Oct. 2 was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash, one of the state’s highest honors, by Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb in recognition of his contributions to the semiconductor industry.

Purdue University PhD candidate Lucas Cohen recently had a research paper, "Silicon Photonic Microresonator-Based High-Resolution Line-by-Line Pulse Shaping," published in the journal Nature Communications. This work represents a significant advance in the field of optical pulse shaping, a crucial technology for applications in ultrafast optics, radio-frequency photonics, and quantum communications.

Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has expanded its more than four-decade relationship with a leading electronics test and measurement equipment and software manufacturer. Keysight Technologies provided equipment and training for a new lab in the renovated Max W and Maileen Brown Family Hall (BHEE).

Purdue University researchers have developed patent-pending one-dimensional boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) containing spin qubits, or spin defects. The BNNTs are more sensitive in detecting off-axis magnetic fields at high resolution than traditional diamond tips used in scanning probe magnetic-field microscopes.

Purdue University has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to lead the Quantum Photonics Integrated Design Center (QuPIDC) Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC). This initiative will drive forward the frontiers of quantum photonics research.

Santokh Badesha, Distinguished Professor in Purdue University's Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elected as a 'Foreign Fellow' of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Foreign fellows are individuals who do not live in India and are renowned for their contributions to science and have contributed or can contribute to the progress of science in India.

Saurabh Bagchi, professor in the Elmore Family nSchool of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is a finalist for the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) Achievement Medal, a global award in engineering. Winners will be announced and presented in London on Oct. 18.

Anand Raghunathan, the Silicon Valley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named the 2024 Technical Excellence Award winner by Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) for his pioneering contributions to the design of artificial intelligence hardware and approximate computing.
