Jordan Gilman, Facility Manager for Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the winner of the 2023 Support & Service New Employee Award from the College of Engineering (COE). The purpose of this award is to recognize, encourage, and promote a desire to contribute and acquire new capabilities as a staff member of the College of Engineering specifically and the University in general. The award is open to all administrative, professional, clerical, and service staff in the College of Engineering with two years or less of continuous employment with the University as a permanent employee.

Four employees of Purdue ECE nominated Gilman for this award. Among their comments were:

“Jordan’s proactive approach to facility management has been instrumental in driving innovative solutions for optimizing our workspaces. His tireless commitment to excellence has not only saved valuable time and resources but has also maintained the continuity of our academic and research activities.”

“In the short year Jordan has been here, he has made major contributions in suggesting creative solutions, making our operations more effective and efficient. He’s able to manage several remodeling projects at a time…his level of multi-tasking is staggering.”

“He never needs a reminder to do a task and he certainly never needs to be followed up on to ensure the job is completed on time – he’s always ahead of schedule. This is something that he’s clearly training his student staff to do, as well, because I do not have to follow-up to see that the jobs are completed on time and done well with any of this student help. They know how to do a job well because they have a good mentor who shows them by example.”

Three other Purdue ECE employees were finalists for Staff Awards of Excellence:

  • Jamie L. Seadeek, Senior Academic Advisor and Professional Practice Assistant, was a finalist for the Outstanding Academic Advisor Excellence Award
  • Matt Golden, Graduate Programs Director, was a finalist for the Management and Professional Customer Service Excellence Award
  • Mary Ann Satterfield, Senior Administrative Assistant, was nominated for the Support & Service Customer Service Excellence Award

The awards were presented at the annual Staff Awards Banquet on December 8, 2023.
