Santokh Badesha receives prestigious award from the American Ceramics Society

Santokh Badesha, adjunct professor for innovation in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to receive The American Ceramic Society’s 2022 Rishi Raj Medal for Innovation and Commercialization in Ceramics.

Santokh Badesha, adjunct professor for innovation in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to receive The American Ceramic Society’s 2022 Rishi Raj Medal for Innovation and Commercialization in Ceramics. The award was established to recognize a member of the ceramics and class research community for exceptional discovery or invention(s) that can, or have, led to innovative products and/or processes.

Santokh Badesha, Adjunct Professor for Innovation

Badesha is internationally recognized for the invention of foundational technologies that have ushered in the era of digital printing on demand. With 261 issued US patents and 55 at different stages of the patenting process, he is the all-time Xerox record holder for U.S. Patents one of the world’s most prolific inventors. This includes more than 20 patents in specialized glass material design and processing that have been commercialized by Xerox and suppliers of high purity chalcogenides and form a foundational pillar for photoreceptors for imaging technologies.

Badesha has worked across government, academia and industry to open new opportunities for technological innovation and commercial successes. He serves as a trustee of the New York State Fuzehub Manufacturing Collaborative, is a fellow of the National Academy of Engineering, an honorary member of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Society of Imaging Science & Technology. Badesha was named a chartered scientist by the Science Council of the United Kingdom and received the Distinguished Inventor of the Year Award from the Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association. He is the recipient of many awards from Xerox, including being inducted into the Xerox Innovation Group Hall of Fame.

Recognition of the 2022 Rishi Raj Medal for Innovation and Commercialization in Ceramics will take place at the ACerS 124th Annual Meeting with Materials Science & Technology 2022, which is being held October 9-12, 2022 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
