Prof. David J. Love wins COE Faculty Excellence Award for Research

David J. Love, the Nick Trbovich Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2020 Purdue Engineering Faculty Excellence Award for Research. The award is for an exceptional research contribution presented/published within the last five years by a Purdue Engineering faculty member that has been significantly recognized by experts in the field.

David J. Love, the Nick Trbovich Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2020 Purdue Engineering Faculty Excellence Award for Research. The award is for an exceptional research contribution presented/published within the last five years by a Purdue Engineering faculty member that has been significantly recognized by experts in the field.
 
Love was nominated for the honor by James V. Krogmeier, professor and associate head of electrical and computer engineering, for Love’s contributions to large array beamforming for 5G and beyond wireless systems.  

“Prof. David Love is a world-leading expert in the design and analysis of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless, which uses multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver,” said Krogmeier in his nomination letter. “He has performed groundbreaking research on MIMO systems that adapt to the channel conditions.”

Love leads the College of Engineering Preeminent Team on Efficient Spectrum Usage. He has been recognized as an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Fellow and a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher in 2014 and 2015. Love was included in the Thomson Reuters list of “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” in 2014 and 2015.
