Wang Shui Chung Patrick received his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Purdue in 1972. He joined the Johnson Electric Group in Hong Kong, became a director in 1976, was promoted to managing director in 1984, and was elected chairman and chief executive of the Group in 1996.

Johnson Electric is a world leader in the design, development, and delivery of a broad range of micromotor products used in automobile components, home appliances, power tools, and business equipment/multimedia. Founded in 1959, Johnson can produce more than one million motors per day, exports worldwide, and employs more than 15,000 people. Major manufacturing facilities are in China and Thailand with research, sales, marketing, and technical support centers in Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, and the United States.

Wang is a non-executive director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He is a member of the board of directors of the Provisional Hong Kong Science Park Company Ltd., the Hong Kong/European Union Business Cooperation Committee, and the Hong Kong/United States Economic Co-operation Committee. A council member to both The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong, he has been a member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council. He has been a member of the Central Policy Unit of the Hong Kong Government, the advisory committee to the Securities and Futures Commission, and the Science Park Planning Committee. In 1995 he received the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards "Executive Award."
