Purdue Women in Mechanical Engineering Symposium:
- 3rd annual Women in ME Symposium will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 @ 5:30-8:30pm in the ME Gatewood wing.
-
The symposium consists of the following events:
- Student/Faculty/Alum Panels with opportunities to ask questions and get meaningful answers.
- Networking with alums, faculty, staff, and students at all levels - undergraduate, graduate, and FYE.
- Dinner is included for registered attendees.
- Special tracks for FYE students including two options to attend an Engineering Your Major (EYM) session for course credit (advance registration required).
- Research Poster Show to learn about the exciting research being conducted by ME graduate and undergraduate students as well as the chance to network with fellow researchers.
- Recruiting by event sponsor companies.
- Website = https://engineering.purdue.edu/ME/Women
- The symposium is a great opportunity to network and share your experiences, especially with First Year Engineering (FYE) students exploring whether Mechanical Engineering is the right fit for them.
- The Women in Mechanical Engineering (WiME) student organization will collaborate with the School of Mechanical Engineering to plan and execute all aspects of the symposium. The WiME student organization was formed in January 2023 and already has nearly 200 members including first year engineering (FYE) students, ME undergraduate students, & ME graduate students.
- Data for the incoming 2023 Purdue ME class demonstrates an increase of women students from 16% in 2022 to 23% in 2023. Data indicates another increase to 24% in 2024. This symposium and the WiME student organization are making a tremendous positive impact for the Purdue School of Mechanical Engineering!
- We are energized for a dynamic symposium and hope you will be a participant. All are welcome!
