Creator of wearable sensing technology

Stacey Burr

Stacey Burr received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1984 and a master’s degree in industrial administration from Purdue in 1991.The West Lafayette, Indiana, native has built a very successful career in wearable sensing technology. After beginning her journey at DuPont, Burr founded and served as CEO of Textronics, Inc., where she led commercialization of e-textiles, creating the first wearable sensor garments for fitness and health. Burr later sold Textronics to Adidas and continued as vice president of Wearable Sports Electronics. A few years later, Google recruited her to take on a new role – as vice president of Product & UX for Wear OS and Google Fit. Most recently, she started her own company, called Future Standard, Inc., a consulting and advising firm in the health tech sector. During her career, Burr has co-invented 76 patented materials and process technology innovations in wearable electronics. Purdue honored her as an Old Master in 2020.
