Mamoon Hamid graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1997. He commenced his Silicon Valley career at Xilinx, where he worked in engineering and marketing roles before transitioning to venture capital. In 2005, he joined U.S. Venture Partners and spent six years there before co-founding a company called Social Capital. At Social Capital, he played a key role in helping companies like Intercom, Greenhouse and Netskope get started, and he was the first outside investor in Slack. In 2017, Hamid moved to Kleiner Perkins, one of Silicon Valley’s most renowned venture firms, where he became a managing member and general partner. He has been recognized by The New York Times as one of the Top 100 Venture Capitalists in the country and has appeared multiple times on Forbes’ Midas List for top tech investors. Purdue presented Hamid with an Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer Award in 2020.
