Pioneer in digital camera image processing

Farhan A. Baqai received a master's degree and a PhD in electrical engineering in 1997 and 2000, respectively. He currently serves as a senior research manager at Apple, where he and his teams have made significant contributions to key technologies for the iPhone, the iPad, the Mac, and Sony's CyberShot digital cameras. Prior to his role at Apple, Baqai held research and leadership positions at the Sony US Research Center and Xerox Corporation. His extensive expertise spans various fields, including digital camera processing, machine learning, computer vision, stereoscopic image processing, statistical signal processing, digital printing, and radar imaging. In recognition of his contributions, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers honored Baqai as a fellow in 2023. Additionally, Purdue presented him with an Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer Award in 2021.
