One of America’s top experts in stormwater management

Christopher B. Burke graduated with three chemical engineering degrees: a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a PhD in 1977, 1979 and 1983, respectively. He began his career as an urban hydrologist at Harza Engineering Company, working on water resources projects. In 1986, he founded Christopher B. Burke Engineering, which has since grown into one of the top engineering consulting firms in the nation, with more than 200 employees. While Burke is renowned for his expertise in stormwater management and water resources, his firm offers a wide range of engineering services to the public and private sectors. Burke has received numerous honors, including membership in the National Academy of Engineering, as well as the Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition Award from the National Academy of Civil Engineers. Purdue presented Burke with a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award in 1998 and an honorary doctorate in 2010. At Purdue, his generosity is reflected in the Christopher and Susan Burke Hydraulics and Hydrology Research and Teaching Laboratory.
