President of the Seattle Mariners for 28 years

Charles G. “Chuck” Armstrong, who received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1964, pursued a diverse career path that included law, real estate, and professional baseball leadership. After obtaining a law degree, he joined a Los Angeles-based law firm. Armstrong later became chief executive officer of a real estate firm owned by the Seattle Mariners baseball team owner. In 1983, Armstrong was appointed president of the Mariners, a position he held until the team was sold in 1989. Subsequently, at the request of a new ownership group, he returned to serve as president from 1992 to 2014. Armstrong played a significant role in turning around a struggling franchise, leading the team to achieve a Major League Baseball regular season record of 116 wins in 2001.
