Purdue ECE honors five alumni with the Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer Award

The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University is celebrating the accomplishments of five of its alumni with Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer (OECE) awards. Established in 1992, the OECE has recognized the professional excellence of ECE’s top graduates, honoring their contributions and the prestige they bring to Purdue and to ECE.

The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University is celebrating the accomplishments of five of its alumni with Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer (OECE) awards. Established in 1992, the OECE has recognized the professional excellence of ECE’s top graduates, honoring their contributions and the prestige they bring to Purdue and to ECE.

The 2024 Class of OECEs includes:

Michael Harris earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 1991. He is currently a VP at Amazon, where he is the Chief Product Officer for Ring and Blink, the security companies within Amazon’s Devices and Services Organization.  

Dr. Andrew C. Marcum received a master’s degree and PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 2010 and 2015, respectively. He is currently a Lead Scientist and Engineering Fellow at RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) in Arlington, VA.

Dr. Andrew ‘AJ’ Metcalf earned his master’s degree and PhD from Purdue University in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He is currently the Space Enterprise Engagement Lead, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

Dr. Saibal Mukhopadhyay received a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University in 2006. He is currently a Joseph M. Pettit Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.

Sunil Kumar Patro received a master’s degree from Purdue University in 2003. He is the Founder and CEO of Signeasy.

“To tonight’s honorees: Your drive, your innovation, and your commitment are what propel us forward,” said Milind Kulkarni, Michael and Katherine Birck Head and Professor of ECE. “You are an inspiration, not just to your peers, but to the entire Purdue community.”

The 32nd annual Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer Awards Ceremony took place Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Shively Club at Ross-Ade Pavilion in West Lafayette.
