Please Note: Bold indicates mandatory attendance for all new students.

Unless indicated otherwise, sessions will occur in the 2nd floor conference room of the Martin C. Jischke Hall of Biomedical Engineering building (MJIS 2001).

1:30pm – 3:00pm

Plagiarism and Scholarship Workshop
Presented by Dr. Andrew Brightman.  This will be the last piece of your Responsible Conduct in Research requirement.  You will need to bring in your signed form to our office no later than Monday, August 21st at 4:00 pm. (You will receive this form during the Plagiarism workshop)
Mandatory for PhD and Thesis Master's students

3:00pm – 5:00pm  BME Teaching Assistantship Orientation

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Boilermaker Challenge 
Meet at the challenge course.  Close toed shoes such as sneakers are a must and athletic-type clothing is recommended.  Also, remember to dress for the weather! Water is provided but we encourage participants to bring reusable water bottles.  You will be outside for this activity.                                                                 

Rain Location:  MAC Gym, Co-Rec

IBSC Orientation Breakfast with faculty, staff and current students.
Required for new IBSC students.

9:00am- 10:00am

Photos--Professional photos will be taken.  These photos will be used on the website and for BME and IBSC news announcements like awards, fellowships, etc.
Dress will need to be business casual.
Location:  MJIS 1083

9:00am  10:00am Convocation & Benefits Session for New Graduate Students. Location: Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center.
8:00am- 12:00pm Grab 'n Go Boxed Breakfasts. Location: STEW 310
10:00 am- 11:00am Breakout Session*:  International Q&A;  Loeb Playhouse
10:00 am- 10:30am Breakout Session*:  Professional Development/Research Repository, STEW 314
10:00 am- 10:30am  Breakout Session*:  Responsible Conduct of Research, STEW 320
10:00am – 12:00pm Resource Fair  Location: Stewart Center Rooms 302 and 306.Over 40 representatives from various university offices, as well as representatives from various community organizations, will be available to provide new graduate students with information about Purdue and our local community.  
    *Breakout sessions will be repeated at 10:30, 11:00, and 11:30.
5:00 pm ???? BMEGSA Welcome BBQ, South End of MJIS

In addition to the above, HR Staff Benefits will be offering information sessions to new graduate students at various times in August and September (times to be determined). The Office of Ethics and Compliance will be offering two EA/EO sessions to new graduate students at 3:00-4:30 pm on August 15 and 1:00-2:30 pm on August 17, held in WALC 2007.
