In an effort to safeguard children, the Lafayette Rotary Club, led by Weldon School faculty member Bob Hannemann, recently distributed 22,000 pieces of safety literature to local schools.

Dr. Allison Sieving, the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering's Laboratory and Assessment Coordinator, was selected to receive a 2011 Learning Outcomes Assessment Grant.

In the fall semester of 2010, the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering began its own chapter of Alpha Eta Mu Beta - one of biomedical engineering's only National Honor Societies. Initially founded by Dr. Daniel Reneau of Louisiana Tech University in 1979, AEMB membership is offered to the top fifth of juniors and top third of seniors in biomedical engineering programs.

The annual Student Activities and Organizations awards were given out on April 21 in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom. BME's own Keith Hansen was selected to receive two awards.

Several Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering graduate students were recently recognized for their excellence.

Five members of Alpha Eta Mu Beta, an honor society for Purdue University biomedical engineering students, visited Elkhart recently to share their passion for engineering and science with Hawthorne Elementary School sixth graders.

Lindsay E. Wendel, a graduating senior in biomedical engineering, has been selected as the student responder for the engineering commencement ceremony, to be held on May 13th.

At the Faculty Awards Convocation, held on April 28, 2011, several BME faculty members were recognized.

Purdue University graduate research was extremely well represented at the Institute for Biological Engineering's Annual Meeting, held in March in Atlanta, GA.

Several outstanding BME undergraduate students have been recognized for their stellar accomplishments.
