The annual Student Activities and Organizations awards were given out on April 21 in the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom. BME's own Keith Hansen was selected to receive two awards.

Keith received The Class of 1937 scholarship, endowed to reward students who show leadership and leadership potential while at Purdue. He also received a Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Award, established by a 1939 Purdue graduate to honor undergraduate students who show leadership abilities and appreciation for basic American values.

Keith has been serving this past year as the student commissioner for the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. He states, "The impact of education begins in the classroom, but it must be nurtured by a nationwide culture that believes in and supports higher education. I want to share this message with others across our nation. I will look for opportunities to become part of the team that creates policy — it’s the best way to make a real difference.”

We're proud to have Keith as a member of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering family!
