Save the Date for Day of Giving

Purdue's second annual Day of Giving is set for April 29, 2015. Day of Giving is a one-day, online, university-wide social media event to build a better, stronger, more affordable Purdue. For 24 hours, students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends will come together to grant opportunities and transform lives. Last year, the Weldon School received $829,743 during the event. This was 12% of the overall $7.5 million received from 6,500 donations to Purdue and the third highest amount received by participating units across campus.

"We are grateful to everyone who made our first Day of Giving an overwhelming success,” said George Wodicka, professor and head of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. “The friends, alumni, students, parents, faculty, and staff of the extended Weldon Family are extraordinarily supportive, and their gifts help the Weldon School pursue opportunities for strategic growth, innovation, achievement, and student success."

Gifts to Purdue ranged from $10 to more than $1 million. Donors included long-time benefactors along with students, staff and recent graduates new to philanthropy. The event drew contributors from 15 countries – including China, Australia and Uzbekistan – and all 50 states. Some donors honored family members or favorite professors with their gifts.

This year, gifts to the Weldon School can be allocated to the Weldon School Innovation Fund, Weldon School Senior Class Scholarship Quasi Endowment, or to areas of greatest need.
